Can Small Business Owners Afford Social Media Marketing

As a small business owner and a social media marketing agent for other small businesses this is the biggest question I receive. Can small business owners afford social media marketing. The answer is yes. And the reality is that any small business who is not using social media to market is missing a large amount of opportunities to grow and expand their business.

I can tell  you that personally I’ve been contacted by National Television Shows, people to license my products, boutique owners, baby boutique buyers and more all due to our interaction on social media.

Sales do come directly from Facebook, Instagram and more. But beyond that it helps with your social proof.

Just look at one of our latest social media campaigns when we launched and Instagram ad for Snuggwugg. It helps promote our business tremendously and it drives sales as well.

So if you are a small business owner, a brand or coach wondering if social media is right for your business? The answer is yes.

LinkedIN University Pages – A Youth Invasion?

LinkedIn University Pages is causing quite the huge stir. It’s been one of the more serious social networking website for – well it seems like forever. But watch out now because their is a youth invasion. Well that’s what you’d think if you read some of the posts. It reminds me of those old horror movies where everyone starts running and screaming because some big huge monster is coming. Basically similar reactions.

Here is my 2 cents for what it’s worth. I’m a mom. I want my baby to have every advantage possible. If that means she can hop on LinkedIN University Pages when she is 14, connect with mentors, possibly learn about future internships, then I think it’s an amazing thing. I know there will be a few bumps in the road. But to me it’s really amazing that they are watching out for the younger generation and using the amazing tool of social media to make a difference in their future.

So don’t freak out too much because after all, people used to think Christopher Columbus was going to fall off the earth. But he survived and so will you. Even with 14 year olds on LinkedIN.

I love this video LinkedIN created so check it out and learn a little more below.

  • Join the conversation: University Pages are a great place to get regular updates about campus news and activities from the schools themselves, to ask questions, and engage with both the campus community and alumni of schools.
  • Explore universities worldwide: Interested in graduate schools in France? Start by searching for schools in Paris. Then, explore the careers of graduates to see which schools will get you to your goal. Connect with students or alumni for their perspectives on the school.
  • Check out notable alumni: What kinds of leaders does this school produce? From astronauts to architects, executives to entertainers, explore the notable alumni who have done great things since graduation.
  • Expand your opportunities: Are you choosing a major or considering a mid-career shift? Explore the careers of philosophy or physics graduates. You might be surprised at the diverse professional paths they’ve taken. See where they live and work, what they do, and even the skills they’ve acquired along the way to see what’s possible for you.
  • Build your network: Transform those brilliant, creative, hard-working people you met (or will meet) on campus into a lifelong professional network. Alumni can reconnect with former classmates, and students can cement relationships with current and future classmates.

We believe University Pages will be especially valuable for students making their first, big decision about where to attend college. Therefore, beginning on September 12, we will be making LinkedIn available to high school students* who can use LinkedIn to explore schools worldwide, greatly expand their understanding of the careers available, and get a head start on building a network of family and friends to help guide them at every milestone.

Check out some of the 200 universities who have adopted their pages, including INSEAD,New York University, University of California San Diego, Fundação Getúlio Vargas,University of Michigan, Villanova, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Illinois, and many more. Over the next few weeks, thousands more schools will be given access to their University Pages. Learn more about what LinkedIn has to offer for education here.
